The Beautiful Ios Island is Inviting!

People travel to the beautiful IOS Island to enjoy the most beautiful beaches of the Cyclades group of islands in Greece and to have much of entertainment and fun in many nightclubs and bars.

However, those tuorists who do not like the noises and the crowded beaches escape it to the beautiful quiet islands in its neighbourhood.

That does not rape it its bright presence in the Cyclades, so it appears heavily packaged touristy island with commercial fever on the main busy beautiful sites in the island, imposing the picture of the island's warm welcoming nature.

This small island lies almost at the south of the Cyclades, south of the beautiful Paros Island, southwest of the beautiful Naxos Island, north of the beautiful Santorini Island / Thira Island, east of Sikinos Island and west of the beautiful Amorgos Island.

The beautiful Ios Island stretches 109 square kilometres and there are more than 1,838 inhabitants in the entire island. However, the number of the population has descended from 3,500 inhabitants in the island during the 19th century.

Ios is part of Santorini peripheral unit. It is green and the cliffs stretch down beyond the sea in most of the shores of the island. There are alleys, paths and donkey paths in most of the settlements.

The island shared the same history of the other Greek islands. Homer's mother was from Ios and he was buried there in the ancient town of Plaktos at the north of the beautiful Ios but there is no physical evidence to this.

In addition, there are signs of a Mycenaean settlement and a ruin of a Venetian castle from the 15th century at the north.

The excavation in Skarkos hill revealed prehistoric settlement in the beautiful Ios Island since the Cycladic time, presented in Skarkos prehistoric site at the top of the hill.

The ancient building had two storeys, stone paved floors and a sewage system. The architectural preserved site is on this area and there are numerous preserved pottery tools and utensils of metal and some stones and bones.

After the architectural preservation efforts, Ios gained the award of the European Union Cultural Heritage in 2008 for its exceptional conservation efforts at the archaeological site of Skarkos.

The administrative local authorities in the beautiful Ios Island developed the tourism sector by building and paving roads, building the amphitheatre and running other projects for tourism.

They used the fund given by the European Community to do these projects. The German architect Peter Haupt has designed the amphitheatre on the slopes of the hill.

The beautiful Ios Island has some capes, beautiful bays and beaches. Cape Karatza is at the northwestern tip of the island above Plakotos.

Getting around the island from the northern part, there are some beautiful beaches. The beautiful Agia Theodoti Beach lies down of the northeastern coast followed by the beautiful Psathi Beach.

The ruins of Paleokastro lie on the area between the two beaches. Cape Pountas is down of the last beach and above Plakes Bay.

The beautiful Kalamos Beach is at the south edge of this bay. The beautiful Papas Beach is at the southeast followed by Cape Fidias at the southeastern edge of the island.

The beautiful Manganari Beach is at the south between Cape Fidias and Cape Ahlades. Klima Bay is up from this cape. There are 6 beaches further to the north on the western coast, around the port and Hora.

The beautiful beaches of Milopotas and Kolitzani are at the south of Hora followed by the beautiful Valmas Beach at the entrance of Ormos Bay.

The beautiful beaches of Gialos and Tsamaria are west of the port and at the upper part of the bay followed by the beautiful Koubara Beach.

The most populous settlements in the beautiful Ios Island are in Ormos, Hora and Milopotas. These populated centres are close to each other on the western coast.

The capital town of the island is Hora and it is about 2.3 kilometres by road at the southeast of Ormos.

Mylopotas or Milopotas is about 3.8 at the southeast of Ormos and is about 2 kilometres on the same direction from Hora or Chora. However, the beautiful Mylopotas Beach is about 1.2 kilometres down the hill from Hora.

The bus terminal in Ormos is on Plateia Emirou, at a short walking distance ahead of the port. There is an information kiosk on the ferry quay and an ATM near it.

The port police is at the southern end of the waterfront. Turning left and then right from Plateia Emirou, a stepped path leads to Hora or Chora. The Commercial Bank and the National Bank of Greece with ATMs are on the opposite direction from the bus terminal in Hora.

The post office is near from the Town Hall one lock behind the main street and near Plateia Valeta the main square of Hora. Hora is supported by medical care and there are many medicine doctors.

The Aegean region is a perfect natural laboratory in which to study the mechanisms of core complex formation, synchronous basin evolution and subsequent graben formation in late orogenic continental extensional deformation following crustal thickening due to orogenic contraction.

The region has been the subject of intensive research for several decades. This will be essential reading about the structural evolution of the Eastern Mediterranean.

Ginger and Cinnamon

While vacationing on the Greek Isle of Love, a repressed 30 year old Stefania reluctantly plays chaperon to her precocious 14 year old niece, Meggy, who plans to lose her virginity before the summer is over.

Unbeknownst to Stefania, Meggy's chosen man is Stefania's ex-boyfriend. Amidst a mélange of sun rash, broken diets, nervous girls, sleeping bags, orgasms, 80's music, and a little ginger and cinnamon, the two women discover themselves and their sexuality.

Some sources say that some scenes of two movies are shot in the beautiful Ios Island. One of those movies is Ginger and the Cinnamon, directed by Daniele Luchetti and starred by Stefania Montorsi, Giampaolo Morelli and Martina Merlino.

The second movie is Le Grand Bleu or the Big Blue movie, directed by Luc Besson and starred by Jean Marc Barr, Rosanna Arquette and Jean Reno.

Scenes from this movie as the sources say were shot in Manganari in the beautiful Ios Island. See the beautiful Amorgos Island here, as the same sources say also the movie was shot in Amorgos.
