Numerous Bookstores in Caracas Offer Great Knowledge!

There are many bookstores in Caracas in addition to numerous libraries, research and cultural centres. They offer all book genres, magazines, papers, scripts and electronic publications.

Bookshops and libraries are also preferred tourists' attractions in Caracas, where people find books in many international languages, on different topics, in addition to other books about Venezuela and other countries in Latin America.

English bookshops are many and among them is the American bookstore, which was first opened at Edificio Belveder, Avenida San Juan Bosco and then changed its address when it moved to Los Palos to occupy a place in the Commercial Centre on the Central Plaza.

The English Bookshop is in the Centro Comercial Concresa on Prados del Este. In addition to this English bookstore, the British Council supports English readings and studies by varieties of English publications and courses.

The council with its library is in Torre Credicard, Piso 3, Avenida Principal El Bosque, Chacaito 1050. The Centro Venezolano Americano with its library is in Edificio CVA, Avenida Principal de las Mercedes.

There are two main Italian bookshops included in the list of the bookstores in Caracas. Those two Italian bookshops are El Libro Italiano at Avenida Francisco Solano in Sabana Grande and the Libreria Rizzoli at Centro Plaza, la Transversal.

The Instituto Italiano de Cultura de Caracas is on Avenida Francisco de Miranda, Centro Plaza, Torre A, Piso 8, Los Palos Grande, Caracas 1060. It offers in addition to its library, Italian courses and grants for scholars in Venezuela and overseas.

The German Bookshop or the Libreria Alemana Oscar Todtmann has books in German. It adds language values to the list of bookstores in Caracas. It occupies a place at Local 4 of the Centro Comercial El Bosque on Avenida Liberatdor.

Goethe Institut of Caracas is in the Asociacion Cultural Humboldt or Humboldt Cultural Association on San Bernardino, below Avenida Boyaca, east of Avenida John Germain Roscio and north of Avenida Los Proceres.

The French Bookshop or the Libreria La France is in the basement of Plaza Brion or the Centro Comercial Chacaito and at the back of the corner of Avenida Principal del Bosque.

This is the first competitor to the Spanish language and it adds its language treasury to enrich the list of bookstores in Caracas.

The Alianza Francesa de Venezuela or the Alliance Francaise supports French language and studies in Caracas. It has more than ten bureaus in Venezuela; many of them are in Caracas.

The main French cultural centre is on the main street of Las Mercedes on the Centro Comercial Paseo and the second is in Edificio Centro Solano, Piso 1, Avenida Francisco Solano. It offers French language courses and overseas grants to students.

Tecni Ciencia has many bookshops in Venezuela where people find different books, magazines, papers and travel guides in Spanish and English.

The two biggest branches of this bookshop are in the Centro Ciudad Comercial Tamanaco on Nivel C-2, Chuao and the Centro Sambil, Nivel Acuario, Chacao, with large travel sections.

The Tecniciencia Libros Galerias Avila is on Avenida Urdanela. It is one of the oldest bookstores in Caracas, Distrito Capital.

Sociedad Conservacionista Audubon de Venezuela is in the Centro Comercial Paseo Las Mercedes, Calle Veracruz, Apartment 5, Piso 1. It is small local bookshop and publisher of local books.

A nonprofits organization takes the name of Audubon Society of Venezuela since 1970 taking the ecological conservation activities to protect the nature of the country.

There are also many small local bookstores in Caracas and across the country, selling books of history, sciences, nature, ethnography, politics, ethnology, cookbooks, coffee books, Latin Americas literature and arts, in addition to international fiction books and nonfictions translated into Spanish.

Second-hand books and cheap books are on the street markets and some other second-hand bookstores in Caracas. One of the street markets is on Avenida Fuerzas Armadas, Romualda a Plaza Espana in La Hoyada Metro Estacion and the second street book market is on Paseo Anauco. Other bookstores are at the ground floors of the building of Universidad Central de Venezuela.
