The beautiful village of Maun is one of five largest towns in Botswana. There are more than 55,980 people, some of which are attracted by the tourism opportunity living in huts and modern buildings in this small town.
It is obviously because of the fever of tourism the village has extended along the Thamalakane River holding numerous of shopping centers and safari and air services bureaus and become the administrative center of Ngamiland district. However, the farmers still bring their cattle to the village to sell their stock.
The town was founded as capital of Batawana people in 1915 to support the activities they do daily including cattle ranching, small scale farming, fishing and hunting.
Nowadays, the tourism growth has helped the local people and the country as well and played the principle role in the development of the beautiful Maun village and other towns in Botswana.
You will find most of the travel agencies, restaurants and shops at the center of the beautiful Maun village, while most of the budget campsites and lodges are at the village of Matlapaneng, about 9 kilometers at the northeast of Maun.
Numbers of hotels and tourism bureaus are in Sedie village, which lies between the two villages. For more information about the locations of campsites, lodges, hotels, restaurants and travel agencies in the beautiful Maun village see beautiful sites in Botswana.
You should plan your trip well before your arrival to the beautiful Maun village. Your travel agency may arrange everything to tour the delta village with their branches or affiliated travel agencies in Botswana.
So, it would wise to know your hotel, when you take a safari into some places in the delta, where to take a safari plane, where to get a land cruiser, where to get a mokoro and so on.
You will lose money and be lost if you just got there without planning and knowing what to do, when, how and where. Any hotel you book at could arrange many things to do in the beautiful Maun delta village, the villages near it and other cities in Botswana.
But, unless you arrange that from the start, you may find yourself in a position to delay some of your trips and stay some more days in the hotel.
