The Story of My Life Ended in Gondar!

by Veronica Leou
(Gondar, Ethiopia, Africa)

It all started when I was born, my mother was a single mother who was raped at age 16. She then gave birth to me at a hospital downtown St. Louis when she was 17.

The guy who assaulted her then started to hunt her down and leave her threats everywhere. We had to move 46 1/2 times to try and lose him.

My mother then thought it was wise to put us in the Witness Protection Agency.

After I turned 17, I decided to go off on my own and risk everything. He found me and beat me almost to death. I called 911 and they put him in jail for good, then he died.

I then moved to Gondar. We now live here permanently and I love it. That is the end of my story.
