Useful Resources:

The Explorations of Captain James Cook in the Pacific are fascinating personal journals of the famed explorer, who among other exploits discovered and circumnavigated Antarctica, the Hawaiian Islands, eastern Australia and New Zealand.

According to Cook, there was no other large land mass in the South Pacific Ocean. That was a popular myth of his day. He found that there was no navigable Northwest Passage.

Oceanic Explorations reports on a number of the latest discoveries and includes papers, which reassess the Lapita phenomenon in light of this new data.

They reflect on a broad range of interrelated themes including Lapita chronology, patterns of settlement, migration, interaction and exchange, ritual behaviour, sampling strategies and ceramic analyses, all of which relate to aspects highlighting both advances and continuing impediments associated with Lapita research.

Language, Space, and Social Relationships: A Foundational Cultural Model in Polynesia (Language Culture and Cognition) - This book is about the relationship between language and thought, and how this apparently differs between cultures and social groups, is a rapidly expanding area of enquiry.

It discusses the relationship between language and the mental organisation of knowledge, based on the results of a fieldwork project carried out in the Kingdom-of-Tonga in Polynesia.

The book is good for researchers and students working within the fields of psycholinguistics, anthropological linguistics, cognitive anthropology, cognitive psychology, cross-cultural psychology, and cognitive science.

It challenges some existing assumptions in linguistics, cognitive anthropology and cognitive science and proposes a new foundational cultural model to show how space, time and social relationships are expressed both linguistically and cognitively.
