The beautiful Beaches of Makris Gialos, Platis Gialos and Minies are the nearest beaches to Argostoli at the west in Lassi Peninsula at a distance of 4.3 kilometres that takes about 7 minutes from the capital city of the Island of Cephalonia. Perhaps, being the nearest beaches to the capital city of Argostoli is not the only reason that Makris Gialos or Makrys Yialos Beach, Platis Gialos Beach and Minies Beach are popular. Makrys Yialos Beach is wide and long, has beautiful red umbrellas, sun beds, and lovely sand. The green land over the heights up at the back of the beach gives it a natural beauty. It is near the sand and stone caves of Platis Gialos and a line of rocks separates the beach of Makris Gialos from Platia Gialos caves.
