Municipalities of Lesvos: There are 13 municipalities in Lesvos. This page is about the municipalities in the entire Island of Lesvos. I hope great deal of the information here is accurate. If not, please correct any wrong information in any municipality in Lesvos. Thanks.

There are two municipalities in the Island of Lesvos in the main section of this page. Since the volume of the information here is big, I divided it into sections. That means the rest of the municipalities of Lesvos are in the second section below the form, linking into other pages.

The municipalities of Lesvos by land area:

1. the Municipality of Eresos - Antissa or Eressos,
   
2. the Municipality of Kalloni,
   
3. the Municipality of Polichnitos,
   
4. the Municipality of Plomari,
   
5. the Municipality of Mantamados,
   
6. the Municipality of Mytilini,
   
7. the Municipality of Gera or Year,
   
8. the Municipality of Evergetoulas,
   
9. the Municipality of Loutropoli Thermis,
   
10. the Municipality of Agiasos or Ayasos,
    
11. the Municipality of Petra,
    
12. the Municipality of Agia Paraskevi,
    
13. the Municipality of Mithymna.

The Municipality of Eresos - Antissa or Eressos - Antissa is at the west of the Island of Lesvos, spreading about 290.9 square kilometres along the Bay of Kalloni and at the north of it.

It continues from the western coast to the north, but the Municipality of Kalloni encloses it at the north and the east.

There are more than 5,530 inhabitants in the entire Municipality of Eressos - Antissa. The seat of the municipality is Eresos and there are more than 1,097 inhabitants.

Eressos - Antissa combines the following biggest villages in population - Eresou, Skala Eressou, Sigri, Gavanthas, Ancient Antissa, Antissa, Liota, Vatousa, Messotopos, Chidira and Pterounda.

The other big towns in population are Eresos - Antissa, with 1,340 inhabitants, Antissa with 900 inhabitants, Mesotopos with 853 inhabitants, Vatoussa with 529 inhabitants and Chidira with 488 inhabitants.

Now we will turn in a circle from the north following the distances between the capital of the municipality and those villages and locations in the municipality.

Moni Aghiou Ioannou Theologou is about 12.7 kilometres at the north of Eresos and it takes about 15 minutes drive.

Pedino is about 20.7 kilometres at the north of Eresos and it takes about 34 minutes drive.

Lygeri is about 24.5 kilometres at the northeast of Eresos and it takes about 27 minutes drive.

Gavvathas is about 20.2 kilometres at the northeast of Eresos and it takes about 24 minutes drive.

Kampos is about 17.9 kilometres at the northeast of Eresos and it takes about 22 minutes drive.

Eressos - Antissa is about 12.8 kilometres at the northeast of Eresos and it takes about 14 minutes drive.

Tzithra is about 16.3 kilometres at the northeast of Eresos and it takes about 19 minutes drive.

Chidira is about 27.2 kilometres at the northeast of Eresos and it takes about 32 minutes drive.

Revma is about 22.9 kilometres at the northeast of Eresos and it takes about 25 minutes drive.

Vatoussa is about 21.5 kilometres at the northeast of Eresos and it takes about 23 minutes drive.

Pterounta is about 24.3 kilometres at the northeast of Eresos and it takes about 28 minutes drive.

Messotopos is about 11.7 kilometres at the southeast of Eresos and it takes about 16 minutes drive.

Podaras is about 16.8 kilometres at the southeast of Eresos, near the Gulf of Kalloni and it takes about 24 minutes drive.

Tavari is about 14.9 kilometres at the southeast of Eresos, near Podaras and it takes about 20 minutes drive.

Chrousos is about 17.6 kilometres at the southeast of Eresos, near Tavari and it takes about 28 minutes drive.

Skala Eresou is about 3.9 kilometres at the south of Eresos, on the coast and it takes about 5 minutes drive.

Sigri at the western coast overlooking the isle of Megalonision Nisida is about 23.4 kilometres at the northwest of Eresos and it takes about 27 minutes drive.

Palaiochori is about 27.2 kilometres at the northwest of Eresos and it takes about 37 minutes drive.

The Municipality of Kalloni dominates an area of 241.9 square kilometres in the central western part of Lesvos and spreads over the Gulf of Kalloni surrounded by the Municipality of Agia Paraskevi at the east and the Municipality of Eresos-Antissa at the west.

It is the second largest area in Lesvos and there are more than 8,194 inhabitants in the entire municipality.

Kalloni is the seat of the municipality and there are more than 1,732 inhabitants in the town.

There are some big towns in the municipality such as Agra, Parakoila or Parakila, Dafia, Filia, Skalochori, Anemotia and Kerami.

Agra is about 27 kilometres at the southwest of Kalloni and it takes about 33 minutes drive. There are more than 990 inhabitants in Agra.

Parakoila is about 10.4 kilometres at the southwest of the seat of the municipality and it takes about 11 minutes drive. There are more than 926 inhabitants in Parakoila.

Dafia is about 1.4 kilometres at the northwest of Kalloni and it takes about 2 minutes drive and about 16 minutes on foot. There are more than 851 inhabitants in Dafia.

Filia is about 10.7 kilometres at the northwest of Kalloni and it takes about 16 minutes drive. There are 636 inhabitants in Filia.

Skalochori is about 17.1 kilometres at the northwest of Kalloni and it takes about 24 minutes drive. There are more than 581 inhabitants in Skalochori.

Anemotia is about 14.5 kilometres at the northwest of Kalloni and it takes about 20 minutes drive. There are more than 534 inhabitants in Anemotia.

Keramio is 1.8 kilometres at the south of Kalloni and it takes about 2 minutes drive and 22 minutes on foot. There are more than 524 inhabitants in Keramio.

There are other villages and locations in the municipality.

Papiana is about 2.2 kilometres south of Kalloni and it takes about 3 minutes drive and about 27 minutes on foot.

Soumouria is about 1.2 kilometres at the northeast of Kalloni and it takes about 2 minutes drive and about 14 minutes on foot.

Moni Panagias Myrsiniotissis Leimonos is about 2.8 kilometres at the north of Kalloni and it takes about 5 minutes drive and 35 minutes on foot.

Apothikes is about 22.2 kilometres southwest of Kalloni and it takes about 28 minutes drive.

There are six rivers flow in the plain of Kalloni and make it naturally fertile. The towns in the municipality are crossroads in the area towards the south, north and east.

Kalloni holds the annual festivals of sardine in Skala Kolloni and they offer it with ouzo while they play Greek traditional music and dances and the festival takes place in mid August in the main square in Kalloni to honour those immigrated to other countries.
