Beautiful Villages in Lesvos!

Some beautiful villages in Lesvos are at the south and the west of the Island and some of them are on the slopes of Mount Olympus. Here are few of those beautiful villages in Lesvos Island to enjoy. Other villages are below the form on this page and at the beautiful towns in Lesvos.

The beautiful Village of Kalloni is at the northwest of Mytilini near the Bay of Kalloni, the largest bay in Lesvos Island.

It is the seat of the Municipality of Kalloni in the west central area of Lesvos and there are 1,732 inhabitants in the beautiful town.

Skala Kallonis is about 3.2 kilometres on the Bay of Kalloni at the south of it and it takes about 4 minutes drive and about 39 minutes on foot if possible.

Petra at the north of it, is about 16.6 kilometres far and it takes about 17 minutes drive. Mithymna is further in the north is about 22.3 kilometres and it takes about 24 minutes drive.

Kalloni is about 38.6 kilometres far from the capital city of Mytilini and it takes about 41 minutes drive.

Agia Paraskevi at the northeast is only 7.8 kilometres away from it and it takes about 9 minutes drive.

The beach of Skala Kallonis is one of the beautiful beaches in Lesvos and Skala Kallonis is is one of the important conservational ecological system in Greece.

As a wetland, it spreads from the area of the Bay of Kalloni in a beautiful natural landscape. It is beautiful natural resort with olive yards and forests of trees covering the plain, making it a nature reserve and a popular bird watching resort in the Island of Lesvos.

It is also a fishing harbour, engaging numbers of fishermen and producing the best sardines in the Island of Lesvos.

The beautiful Village of Skala Kallonis lies about 45 kilometres west of the Capital City of Mytilini / Mytilene. It is known and written also as Scala Kallonis and Scala Calloni.

The beautiful Village of Skala Eresou is also known and written as Skala Eressos, Skala Eresos or Skala Eresous. It is the harbour of the beautiful Eressos, one of the settlements west of Kalloni with red-roof houses that spread from there onwards through the dry but green and brown landscape.

It is a village by the seaside, so it has one of the beautiful beaches in the Island of Lesvos and is considered as one of the important seaside resorts in the island. See beautiful beaches in Lesvos.

Special women take pilgrimages to this village influenced by the Greek poetess Sappho to enjoy the women only annual festivals in September and there are many resorts for women only.

Skala Eressou is about 3.9 kilometres south of Eressos and it takes about 5 minutes drive and about 50 minutes on foot. The beautiful Village of Skala Eressou is about 87.1 kilometres from the Capital City of Mytilini and it takes about one hour and 39 minutes drive.

The nearest villages are Tavari and Agra, two of the beautiful villages in Lesvos. Tavari is about 16.6 kilometres at the southeast of it and it takes about 22 minutes drive. Agra is about 21.2 kilometres at the east and it takes about 28 minutes drive.

The beautiful small village of Eresou is the seat of the new Municipality of Eresos-Antissa. It lies north of Skala Eresou, which is at about 3.9 kilometres south of Eressos and it takes about 5 minutes drive. See municipalities of Lesvos here. It is the birthplace of the Greek poetess Sappho, who was born there in 630 BC.

The Archaeological Museum of Eresos is in the centre of Skala Eresou near the Christian Basilica of Agios Andreas and it exhibits classical archaic Greek and Roman finds, coins, statues, and graves remains.

Ancient tree stumps called the Petrified Forest is on the hillside. This site, which is said to be 500,000 years old has a museum called the Natural History Museum of the Lesvos Petrified Forest.

There is fertile land on the plain beyond this site. The way from the bus terminal leads to the sea and the central square Plateia Anthis and Evristhenous near the waterfront and the beach is along the square. There are about 1,560 inhabitants in both of Eressos and Skala Eressos.



The beautiful Village of Plomari is the seat of the Municipality of Plomari and the second largest town in population in the Island of Lesvos. There are about 3,337 inhabitants there. See the Municipalities of Lesvos.

It lies in the south of Lesvos. Mount Olympus covers parts of the south and the pine forests and olive groves spread in the area to all direction.

It is known because of its ouzo production and it has some famous brands in the distilling of ouzo industry. The ouzo festival begins in mid July with other festivals.

There is a pebble beach in Plomari and the nearby beach is just few kilometres east of it at Agios Isidoros. See beautiful beaches in Lesvos. The port of Plomari is well constructed down the slopes in a beautiful area of the sea.

There are opportunities for sailing activities here too at the southern coast of the island in addition to car rentals and taxi services. Many resorts operate here including some know hotels such as Blue Wave Hotel on Leoforos Michalelli.

It is about 38.4 kilometres southwest of Mytilini and it takes about 46 minutes drive. It is on the southern coast near Agios Isidoros, about 3.2 kilometres far from it and it takes 5 minutes drive and about 42 minutes on foot.

Lesvos Drive through Beautiful Village of Isidoros to Plomari!



The beautiful Village of Agiasos or Ayassos is the seat of the Municipality of Agiasos. It lies on the slopes of Mount Olympus, at the north of the Municipality of Plomari, East of the Municipality of Polichnitos and west of the Municipality of Mytilini.

Many of the beautiful villages in Lesvos here are near the gulf of Gera. The area is green and rich by pine forests and olive groves. Agiasos contribute the lion share of olive oil production that enables Lesvos to produce half of the worlds' olive oil.

The olive oil exporting company was established in 1863 here to export oil. Ayassos has enjoyable trekking routes dominated by pine trees and olive groves through the rugged hill.

The seat of the Municipality of Agiassos is about 24.5 kilometres west of Mytilini and it takes about 30 minutes drive. It spreads into 79.9 square kilometres and there are 2,498 inhabitants. On the green landscape, traditional Greek tiled roof houses and cobbled streets make it a beautiful site on the slopes of the mountain.
