Here are some beautiful villages in Santorini to enjoy reading about them and even plan your visits to the beautiful islets near it, the Beautiful Santorini Beaches and the Beautiful Santorini Hotels.

Fira Town: Fira has been the capital since the 19th century. It is on the western coast overlooking the cliff of the Caldera and some of the most Beautiful Santorini Beaches.

There are 2113 people living there in an area of 188 square kilometres. The bus station is at the south of Plateia Theotokopoulou, near the 25 Martiou Street and the Erythrou Stavrou, the main commercial blocks, where many travel agencies operate.

Plateia Theotokopoulou is the first square. The second is the jewellery block, Gold Street at block Ypapantis at the west. Monolithis airport is 5.9 kilometres south of the town at the east and it takes 8 minutes driving to or fro. Athinios, the port is 11 kilometres far.

Thera itself is on a small, non-volcanic basement that represents the ancient non-volcanic island. These non-volcanic rocks are at the Profitis Ilias Mountains, Mesa Vouno Mountain, the Gavrillos ridge, Pyrgos, Monolithos and the deeper side of the caldera wall between Cape Plaka and Athinios.

Fira is 17 kilometres from Thirassia and it takes 40 minutes to get there by ferry. The important museums in the town are the Museum of Prehistoric Thera, the Archaeological Museum of Thera and Megaron Gyzi Museum.

Ancient Thira at the eastern side of the island is about 11.3 kilometres far from Fira and it takes 18 minutes drive from there and 45 minutes from Kamari. It is situated almost at the southeast and up on Mesa Vouno Mountain between Perissa and Kamari.

The Dorians were the first to settle there in the 9th century BC. There are some ruins of temples, a gymnasium, an agora, houses and a theatre from the Hellenistic, Byzantine and Roman's times.

Excavations have started there since 1896. Those archaeological sites, monuments and landmarks give it classical views.

Oia Village or Ia or as the locals call it, Pano Meria at the north is 10.3 kilometres far from the capital Fira and it takes almost 15 minutes by car.

It has marble pavements, old houses that allow panoramic view to the waters, sunrise and sunset, the volcanic shapes of the rocks and restaurants, travel agencies and shops. Fishing activities run near the harbour. Oia is described as most peaceful and beautiful village in Santorini. The administration renewed the village following the earthquake in 1956. The mixture of the old architecture and the renewed buildings gives it splendid views.

There are 1,230 people living in the Oia community in Thera and Therasia, which comprises Oia village, Baxedes, Finikia, Paradisos, Kolumbo and Tholos in an area of 19.4 square kilometres. In addition to its Baxedes beach, (see beautiful Santorini beaches) it has a Naval Museum (maritime Museum).

Ancient Akrotiri Village at the south is about 10.9 kilometres far from the capital and it takes 17 minutes by car. The excavations since 1967 have reached the ancient city with its buildings of up to three storeys from the 16th century under the ash of the eruption that happened in 1650 BC.

The Minoans came from Crete 2000 BC and inhabited in the area. The development of arts and culture of the Aegean Sea areas during the early Bronze Age between 1700-1400 BC had touched Akrotiri and appeared in tin and copper and the ruins of designs of ceramics and frescoes.

Many of these findings are in the Museum of Prehistoric Thera in the capital Fira. In addition, the excavations uncovered scripts in Thera, Crete, Knossos and Samothrace.

Akrotiri village is favourite vacation place to numbers of tourists, but the beautiful site, which is still dangerous, is monitored and the tourists are advised to take safety measures as the situation is unclear.

Kamari Village at the east is 7.4 kilometres far from the capital and it takes 14 minutes by car. Kamari is a coastal village on the southeastern part of the Aegean island of Santorini, Greece, in the Cyclades prefecture with a population of approximately 1800 according to the 2001 census.

It is part of the Municipality of Thira and is situated approximately 8 km away from the island's capital Fira. Kamari was built by residents of the nearby village of Exo Gonia that was almost flattened by a devastating earthquake that hit Santorini in 1956.

The village got its name from a small arch, Kamara that still rises at the south end of its beach and is what remains from an ancient sanctuary dedicated to Poseidon.

Today, it stretches along a beach covered with black pebbles, which is the longest of the island. The black beach extends in a northeast to southwest direction from Monolithos to the feet of the Mesa Vouno Mountain that rises up to a height of approx. 400 meters. It is the second highest peak in Santorini.

Once an agricultural and fishing village, modern Kamari boasts a thriving tourist industry, offering a wide choice of accommodation, restaurants, cafes, bars and nightclubs, plus several water sport activities.

Kamari cinema is an open-air theatre and it hosts in addition to its shows, Santorini Jazz Festival for 3 days. The Art Space is out of Kamari in an old winery called Argiro's Canava.
