The beautiful Lipsi Island or Leipsoi or Lipsous is a very small island, as it stretches to 17 square kilometres in the archipelago of the Dodecanese group. It belongs to the beautiful Kalymnos Island's peripheral unit.

It is on the Aegean Sea, at a short distance east of the beautiful Patmos Island and between Arki Island or Arkoi at the north and the beautiful Leros Island at the south.

There are more than 698 inhabitants in this island and almost all the small number of population engages in farming and fishing. However, there are few accommodations including rooms, studios and some restaurants.

The beautiful Lipsi Island or Leipsoi has also some beautiful beaches, good for travellers between the largest islands in the Dodecanese and the Cyclades group of islands in the neighbourhood.

This small island became famous after the conviction of the leader of the Greek Marxist revolutionary group the "N17", because he lived there with the islanders for some years.

The group organized an armed struggle against the Greek dictatorial regime and led successful revolutionary attacks against foreign security elements and the security of the Greek Junta in the military government, as well.
